Reading telescope for setting circles, equatorial telescope, 1891
This reading telescope was part of a large historical 19th century equatorial mount. The 19th century telescopes were so tall that a telescope was needed to read the indications on the setting circles.
The reading telescope was probably made by the famous telescope builders Paul Gautier or the Henry Brothers.
The brass reading telescope focuses at a distances between 5 & 10 meter.
Around the reading an attachment ring is installed.
It's exceptional to find a part of a large 19th century equatorial mounted telescope.
