Buckley C, Dublin Docks,
1936, UK,Signed and label on the back,Vintage silver print, Very Good,Not mounted,16,5 X 12,3 cm
Cornelius Buckley was a member and president of the Photographic Society of Ireland. He was a civil engineer working for the Dublin Port and Docks Board during the 1930s. as he had an office based at the North Wall he was very well placed to record the hustle of dock activity. Most of his photographs are of such and, presumably because he was an engineer, he took a lot of pictures of bridges and cranes. This picture is really between pictorialism and modernism.
