Mentelle, Professor at the Central Schools and at the normal school, was a pioneer in the study of geography and history. In this book devoted to astronomy only, the author describes the cosmology of the solar system, in comparing orbits, the lengths and sizes of different planets.
This astronomical part is illustrated with 5 fold-out plates and tables of latitude. These will be used to design a globe representing the natural and political divisions of the earth, globe commissioned by Louis XVI.
Work in average condition Fresh inside - small tears without gaps at the tabs of 2 plates - a few pages slightly browned and some waterstaining, does not affect the reading - covers and back faded
