Engraving, The Moon Seen Through the Telescope, 1862, Wilhelm Nitzschke

Genuine Antique Celestial “Hold-to-Light”
Transparent engraving

29.5 x 24 cm

1862

Manufacturer: Wilhelm Nitzchke.

Celestial map taken from the French version of the Astronomischer Bilder Atlas, by Wilhelm Nitzschke, 1862. This is a map of the moon seen through a telescope. "Hold To Light" cards such as these have cutouts with foil behind them so that when you hold them up to the light, the light can shine through certain parts. In this Hold To Light, the entire moon gently illuminates as light passes through the light paper. Both decorative and informative, these types of cards can be custom framed by us with glass on both sides so light can shine through. Good to very good overall antique condition, with some foxing and dirt on the edges of the paper, approx. 29 x 24 cm to the edges of the paper.
