Pictorial Guide

Pictorial guide of an ideal world

If God would want to realize a pictorial guide of Paradise, he would certainly call upon the pictorialists to make it. Looking at pictorialist photos, we perceive the world as a peaceful place with everything in balance and perfect in to the finest details.

Unfortunately, most pictorialist photographs in this exhibition are situated between the two World Wars, which means a reality of economical crisis, famine and diseases for millions of Europeans.
Photography had become a means to escape this reality and create an ideal, peaceful world.

However, at the same time another stream in photography developed : capturing the cruel reality and preserving it for the generations to come.
The photographers of hell........

In this month's issue you can discover a lot of impressionist pictures.
Take the time to discover them and you may find the photo you have been looking for for a long time.

The online exhibition provides an overview of lesser known or even unknown European (Post-) Pictorialist photographers
