Charles Gaspar, Belgian Pictorialist?

Is he or not a Belgian Pictorialist? Or is he from Luxembourg? Is this important?

Yes it's historical important. It isn't always easy to find biographical data about photographers from that period.

Charles Gaspar was born in Arlon in 1871. He was a member of the APB (Association Belge de Photographie) from 1895 until 1914.

He exhibited at the important French exhibitions "Exposition d'Art photographique du Photo-Club de Paris" in 1895, 1897 and 1898. He also exhibited in Brussels, Hamburg and Lille.

In that period he was famous for his still life's in platinum.
He also made autochromes. Some of the images we present are made from autochromes.

Charles Gaspar died in 1956.
